[02/08/06] Senate to examine spending proposed by Gov. Rendell
Proposed $25.4 billion package includes 4.77 percent growth in outlays

HARRISBURG – The state Senate will thoroughly examine Governor Ed Rendell’s proposed $25.4 billion general fund budget for fiscal year 2006-07 over the next several months, according to Senator Joe Conti (R-Bucks, Montgomery).

According to “Pump Money into Your Wallet,” a brochure produced by the PA Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), if your vehicle does not require premium or mid-grade fuel, you should purchase less expensive regular unleaded gasoline realizing a savings of approximately $0.19 per gallon. The brochure points out that producing higher-octane gasoline uses more crude oil than the lower octane gasoline, and may often involve the use of toxic substances, which means your wallet and the environment suffers.   (04/24/06)

    The dread of April 15th and filing those local, state and federal income tax returns will fall two days later in 2006. Because the 15th falls on a Saturday, taxpayers have until midnight Monday, April, 17, 2006 to get those 2005 returns filed.   (02/10/06)
